Despite the ominous threat of rain for the weekend and the show on Saturday being canceled, Wayne Yada and the Central Valley Woodies planned a fun and eventful two-day event!
Friday night we sipped A&W root beer floats while lying on our blankets, watched the various cars parade to their parking spots, and viewed a treat of American Graffiti on an inflatable movie screen while enjoying the evening weather before the potential weekend rain that was to follow.
Saturday morning we met up at Brian & Sandy Blains’ home. It helps when one of the Woodies in the Valley members has a home with a car collection including an original Indy 500 race car with a track to test drive it on and room to host the raffle, pancake breakfast and car show! The Blains’ home was simply amazing with a car track, several garages filled with cars and motorcycles, and a tree house with a fascinating history.
The Blain’s also have storage for sewing materials that they dedicate to local non-profits by turning the materials into blankets for instant warmth. In addition, they also have a room to display a number of wooden cars.
The folks in Central Valley know how to throw a show and to make you feel like you have been there for a while!
Besides the car show, there were many places to stop. Don Iglesias and Rowland Baker chose the most highly secure wave pool sponsored by Kelly Slater. No matter how they tried to get in, the security guards held the line, “next time, boys”!
