Woodies At The Grand National Roadster Show

S0-CAL WOODIES BRING THE ALOHA SPIRIT TO THE SHOW

The Grand National Roadster Show, formally the Oakland Roadster Show, is held the last weekend in January each year. The LA County Fairplex opens its doors for hot rods, customs and motorcycles from all over the world. The highlight to most would be the crowning of Americas Most Beautiful Roadster. To most, but not us woodie guys. Every year, Mickey Christiason gathers six or so of his stable mates from the So-Cal Woodies to enter their cars in a club exhibit. This year’s exhibitors were:

John Siragusa-1939 Ford Standard

Geri Siragusa-1949 Ford

Gene Anawalt-1938 Ford

Tony Elmo-1946 Ford

Barry Smith-Morris Minor

Philip Albright-Mopar

Coupling the cars with surf boards and then with the tiki’s makes for a fun display. So-Cal Woodies took home the gold with a first place for club displays. A number of Santa Cruz Woodies members made the trip south to take in the show. On top of the club cars, there were a number of other woodies in the show.  If you ever get a chance to attend this show, do it, you won’t be disappointed.
