Santa Cruz Woodies Donations

The 24th Woodies on the Wharf turned out to be an exceptional event.  This was especially true because of the proceeds generated by the raffle. Thanks to the many particapants who bought tickets, we were able to donate to a number of nonprofits this year.

The club officers personally visited five of the six organizations to present the donations. The recipients for this year were: Santa Cruz Junior Lifeguards, Santa Cruz Surfing Museum, CASA, Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, Santa Cruz Surfing Club Preservation Society and Operation Surf in Cambria.

There is something special about handing a non-profit organization a donation which would not be possible without the help of devoted SCW members.  Many thanks to Jim Vickery for arranging a tour of the Pacifica Fire Station and meeting the fire crew along with fundraisers from the Burn Foundation.  We would also like to thank Loren Steck who, along with the e-board, coordinated and selected the organizations to receive the donations.  A big thanks goes out to the Santa Cruz community members who arranged for the photo opportunities to kick off the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum Light House remodeling fundraiser with our donation!

We would also like to thank each and every one of the SCW Club members, families and the many friends of the club who purchased raffle tickets this year at WOW.

We’re looking forward to next year, mark your calendars for the 25th anniversary of Woodies on the Wharf on June 22, 2019.  It will be an awesome celebration marking 25 years of fun, frolic and woodies on the wharf.
