Each year, on the first Saturday in December, the city of Santa Cruz holds their annual Christmas parade. The tradition started many years ago, with Santa joining the procession. The Santa Cruz Woodie Club has been a participant, along with many local groups and interesting floats, taking part in this festive event. The morning started out on the chilly side, but soon warmed up as the group gathered together to decorate their cars. Seventeen woodies and their owners, under the watchful eyes of our clubs events director Arlene Solis, made their way to their place in line. The cars were decorated with candy canes, wreaths, snowmen and bows. The streets were lined with smiling faces as the parade made its way to the end. After the parade, Alan and Jule Hilton invited us all to their home for a wonderful brunch. Their house was built in the late 1800’s and has a breath taking view of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There is nothing like an old fashioned holiday parade to get you set for the Christmas season.
