For years we had talked about visiting Filoli Garden in Woodside during the spring bloom season. This year we decided to put that talk into action! It was a small but mighty bunch who set out on a Saturday in March to visit the gardens and do a Santa Cruz Woodie version of “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”. After meeting in the Visitor Center with hugs and Aloha, and taking a few minutes to wander through the amazing Gift Shop, we set off on our tour. First we visited the Filoli Mansion, a treat not to be missed, and then went on to the gardens. El Niño decided to give us a break and before long we were all shedding jackets and enjoying our sunny walk through the amazing gardens.
Everything was in full spring bloom. There were tulips, lots and lots of tulips, plus daffodils, wisteria and roses just beginning to bud…absolutely stunning! Found a tulip called “Bright Parrot” that I swear will be the color of my next woodie! Following the tour we stopped to pose with Don & Julie Haga’s 1951 Mercury before heading off for a late lunch at Buck’s, a super cute, super quirky restaurant in Woodside. Great fun, great friends and great food! No better way to spend a day! Sure hope you can join us next time!
