Well, it was another great gathering for the Santa Cruz Woodies Ohana this year in the Good Wood reserved section at the Goodguys West Coast Nationals! We kicked the weekend long event off early thanks to Toni Wilkerson for hosting a great Mexican Fiesta Open House at her home on Thursday evening! Folks bellied up to the bar to greet old friends, catch up on story and munch on the array of appetizers that took up a table of their own. The huge Buffet table was groaning under the weight of the Taco Bar that Toni provided and desert warranted a room of its own! No one left hungry and even though we all had to get an early start in the morning to get to the Show… no one left early. Thanks to Toni for another great evening.
Friday morning record numbers of Woodies rolled into the park like setting under the trees. Friday evening the SCW Annual Good Wood Bar-B-Q was again a huge success. The tables stretched forever and there was food and fun aplenty. Thanks to everyone who helped in the preparation but especially again to Doug and Lynda Yugo, party planners and Bar-B-Q masters extraordinaire. In fact the party was so hot that neither Past Club Queen Toni or Club President Rowland Baker so much as shivered when both participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge and dared the rest of us to do the same. Good
Food, Great Friends and a little charity all combined to make for a great evening. Saturday dawned bright and sunny. The guys immediately took off to see if there were any new bargains in the swap meet. The ladies, having exhausted available shopping at the show took a short walk over to Old Town Pleasanton where we enjoyed lunch and indulged in some shopping Therapy. Then after the Show closed for the night it was off to the next party. As has been the tradition for many years the Yugo’s again hosted us at their home for a pool side Bar-B-Q.
Well, the weekend had to end sometime! Sunday morning dawned and we all sadly said our goodbyes but we departed with a smile, taking with us another bunch of fond memories and knowing that many of us would soon meet again. Perhaps at Wavecrest in September, or in Cambria on the way to Woodies at the Rock in Morro Bay in October! There is always another gathering of our Woodie Ohana to look forward to.
